Recently, the China Geospatial Industry Association announced the results of the 2022 Geographic Information Science and Technology Progress Award. The project "Construction and Application of a Digital Platform for Smart Operations of Ultra-Large Airports Based on Spatiotemporal Information," jointly declared by Beijing Futong Dongfang Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Capital International Airport Co., Ltd., and Beijing Jiaotong University, was honored with the second prize of the 2022 Geographic Information Science and Technology Progress Award.
The "Geographic Information Science and Technology Progress Award" is the highest-level scientific and technological achievement award in China's geographic information industry. It is approved and established by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State Science and Technology Reward Office, and the Ministry of Natural Resources, aiming to reward achievements that have made outstanding contributions in the research of geographic information science, technological innovation and development, promotion and application of scientific and technological achievements, high-tech industrialization, and major engineering construction in China.
The project "Construction and Application of a Digital Platform for Smart Operations of Ultra-Large Airports Based on Spatiotemporal Information" relies on technologies such as GIS, BIM, IoT, big data, and artificial intelligence to integrate, fuse, model, and simulate airport geospatial data, spatiotemporal big data, and location big data. It achieves the six-in-one, four-vertical-two-horizontal comprehensive coverage of the capital airport, including "air, ground, surface, underground, indoor, and outdoor," as well as the acquisition and display of spatial entity information resources throughout the entire lifecycle. It enables platform-based presentation and management of information from various IoT devices, situational awareness and panoramic visualization of airport operations, effectively empowering applications at all levels including decision-making, management, operations, and execution layers of the airport. This contributes to the landing of "digital twin" airports and continuously guides the continuous improvement of airport safety, operational efficiency, and service experience.
The intelligent resource management system (iRMS system), jointly established by Beijing Capital International Airport and Futong Dongfang, has transformed the traditional optimization mechanism for airport ground resources while ensuring the safety and controllability of airport operations. In complex environments with many conflicting rules, the iRMS system has achieved full-process visualization and automated management of smart airport operational resources.
